Domain Expiration Policy
How domain expiry, renewal reminders, auto-renewal, grace periods, redemption, and release work for AIvikings domains.
This Domain Expiration Policy explains what may happen when a domain registered through AIvikings approaches expiry or is not renewed on time.
1. Renewal responsibility
Domains are registered for a fixed term. You are responsible for monitoring expiry dates and renewing domains before they expire. We may send renewal reminders to the email address associated with your account, but reminders are a convenience and not a guarantee.
2. Automatic renewal
Where available, you may configure automatic renewal for a domain registered through your AIvikings account. If automatic renewal is enabled, we will attempt to renew the domain for one (1) additional year and withdraw the applicable renewal fee from your pre-paid account balance.
Automatic renewal depends on the domain being eligible for renewal, your account having sufficient cleared balance, your account and payment method being valid, and the relevant registry accepting the renewal. We do not guarantee that any automatic renewal will succeed.
3. If renewal fails
Renewal may fail because of insufficient balance, payment failure, invalid or outdated account information, registry error, registry policy, domain lock, domain ineligibility, technical failure, or circumstances outside our reasonable control. AIvikings is not liable for loss caused by a failed renewal, including loss, suspension, deletion, redemption fee, or release of the domain.
4. Expiry, grace period, redemption, and release
If a domain is not renewed before expiry, it may enter an expiry process. Depending on the top-level domain and registry rules, this may include an expiry grace period, a redemption period, restoration fees, deletion, and release of the domain for registration by others. Exact timelines and fees vary by top-level domain and registry.
5. No guaranteed recovery
After a domain expires, you have no guaranteed right to recover it. If recovery is technically possible, additional fees may apply. Some expired domains may not be recoverable.
6. Registry rules prevail
Registry and ICANN rules may override or affect this policy. Where registry rules impose different timelines, fees, or processes, those rules apply.
